Hello,
I started work on my office, framing some of my artwork and placing them on the walls. A friend of mine took interest in a couple of pieces and wanted to buy them from me. I'm not sure of the legalities of selling artwork based on existing media, so came here to ask is it legal?
The pieces in question were created using screengrabs from DVDs/films as the source and then used to create the artwork, rather like Fanart. So since the source is from an existing Media, is it legal to sell the artwork you created from that source?
I ended up giving him the prints as I could easily print them again and put them back in the frame, but if I should choose to sell my work am I legally allowed to do so?
